How-to Re-Pair a Student Device

Introduction:

To minimize the need for multiple logins to devices, RoboKind uses a pairing process to link student tablets to the same organization as the facilitator that will be using the device.

This means that if a tablet is shared by teachers/therapists in multiple organizations, the student devices will need to be disconnected and re-paired when switching between teachers/therapists. If this is a frequent concern, please enter a ticket at http://support.robokind.com listing the users who share the same tablet, and we may be able to update the account structure to make this unnecessary.

Instructions

  1. You will un-pair the student tablet from the organization as follows:

    1. On the student tablet while on the wait screen, there is a hidden menu in the lower left hand corner of the screen - hold your finger in that corner of the screen for 3-5 seconds until the hidden menu appears, then choose “unpair tablet”.

    2. On the facilitator tablet - session setup screen, choose “Add new tablet”, which will prompt you for the new name of the tablet, and give you the new code with which to register the student device, which may be an iPad or an instance of web companion running at companion.robokind.com.

Troubleshooting hidden menu access:

If you are having difficulty accessing the hidden menu, make sure you are touching in the lower left hand corner of the screen (not the physical corner of the tablet) for 3-5 seconds.

If the student device is an instance of web companion, click with the mouse in the lower-left hand corner of the screen for 3-5 seconds.
