How-to Clean Your Robot
Regularly and properly cleaning your robot will ensure that your robot always looks its best.
Instructions
Before proceeding with any of the below steps, please ensure that your robot is turned off and that the power switch on the bottom of the foot is in the off position or that the battery has been removed. If using any moist item to clean the robot, please allow sufficient time for the cleaning product to dry before powering on your robot.
Dust
Robot Body & Hair: Use a dry microfiber cloth for dust on any of the hard plastics, back panel of connectors (i.e. power jack, USB, etc.).
Robot Face: Lint and dust on the robot’s face can be removed by using the adhesive side of a standard post it note. Gently apply the adhesive side to the robots skin over areas where lint and dust have collected. Gently peel the post it note off the robot and the lint and dust will stick to the post it note.
Chest Screen: The screen can be cleaned with a microfiber cloth, or other similar item that you would use to clean eyeglasses or a cell phone screen.
Please be extremely gentle around the lips, eyebrows or other painted areas of the face, the adhesive can pull off some of these decorations if used too aggressively.
Residue
For residue and If there is any residue like food or build up of dirt, you can spot clean the robot with a slightly damp cloth. Wring out the cloth so that water does not drip from the cloth then clean the affected area. Do not spray your robots with any water or other solvent based solutions as this could damage the electronics.
A mild detergent can also be used if needed, however you may want to spot check if the detergent will leave a residue on a part of the robot that is less prominently visible during normal usage like the back of a leg. If using a detergent or soap, please still make sure that it is applied gently with a slightly damp cloth and that there are no drips.
Disinfecting or Sanitizing
To disinfect or sanitize your robot use a Lysol brand wipe (do not use a Clorox or other bleach wipe as this can affect the pigment of the skin or plastics).
Face: Use gentle dabbing motions, especially on the decorated parts of the face, the eye brows, lips and eyeliner. Dabbing will protect those painted areas of the face.
Body: Use short gentle wiping motions on any part of the with hard plastics or the hair and neck covering.
Chest Screen: The screen on your robot can be cleaned similarly to most cell phones. You can used a microfiber cloth, or for deeper cleaning including sanitization, you can use an alcohol based screen wipe or other electronics safe screen cleaner, like Zeiss screen, lens and glasses cleaning wipes. Please avoid any amounts of liquid which could form drips or drops.
