Release Information

New in Release 2021.040:

  • Hot fix for score display at end of lesson

  • Hot fix for intermittent display issue in avatar mode.

New in Release 2021.034:

  • New audio controls to allow volume to be muted on the facilitator tablet using lowest button in the sidebar menu on the right. Tap the button once to mute, and again to un-mute.

  • Users will be notified if the companion app software is out of date before starting a lesson. Users may continue to run lessons without updating, however we do encourage updating as soon as finishing with teaching activities. Detailed release notes for current and future releases can be found here, and for important updates, RoboKind will also send release notes by e-blast.

  • When connecting to a robot, facilitators will now be notified if Robot Software is out of date. The update process is executed from the robot’s chest screen, and can take 15 to 30 minutes, so we recommend updating when there are no students waiting for their lesson. It is still possible to run lessons without updating the robot. How-to Update the Robot

  • Facilitators can now see both the module and lesson name at the bottom of the screen while a lesson is running.

  • Fixed pause / resume / go back functionality in cases where a lesson was on a question screen.

  • If a facilitator signs into multiple devices with the same account, warnings are now displayed and the accounts are logged out to avoid lesson problems.

  • Improved application recovery after an application is closed or suspended.

New in Release 2021.033:

  • App will now allow student and facilitator tablets to auto suspend after 10 minutes if a lesson is not in progress, thus preserving battery life.

  • New information in the lower right hand corner of the screen above PROD xxx:

    • Student wait screen will display the alias of the tablet for use in confirming that you are connecting to the correct device..

    • Facilitator tablet will now show a step number (i.e. B01, B02, etc.) to reflect progress during lessons.

New in Release 2021.032:

  • New “Milo is teaching…” screen on student tablet while lesson in progress in robot mode.

  • Support for announcing correct robot names when using a Carver, Veda, or Jemi robot.

  • As our web companion at companion.robokind.com now allows facilitators to replace one of the iPad’s with a web browser, we have renamed certain fields to reflect that a device, not just a tablet can be selected.

Customer update instructions

Update Instructions:

Tip: It will save significant time if you update rather than deleting and reinstalling as this will avoid re-downloading and re-pairing devices.

Tip: After updating, check to make sure that the text “PROD 182” (or later) appears in the bottom right hand corner of both the student and facilitator tablets.

Known Issues

  • We will continue to monitor and improve the application for performance and reliability.
