Using the Nucleus Connection Pool Monitor

This monitor shows every active device that is currently connected to Nucleus(our messaging system for lessons). We can see robots, avatars, facilitators and student devices using the monitor. With this monitor we can help debug situations where the facilitator or student device isn’t showing up on the facilitator device, and try to figure out where the problem is.

How to Use
1) Download the nucleus_connection_monitor.html file attached to the page.
2) Open the file using a web browser.

You should see something like this

Here, you can see all devices connected to nucleus across all organizations.

If you are having issues with finding a robot in the session setup screen on the facilitator device, you can check this monitor and make sure that it’s ready to connect. It should have a Session ID of 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000, and the line of the robot should be green with the websocket status of “Open”.

If you are having issues with finding a student device in the session setup screen on the facilitator device, you can check this monitor and make sure that it’s ready to connect. It should have a Session ID of 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000, and the line of the robot should be green with the websocket status of “Open”. The Organization ID should be the same as the facilitator Organization ID.

Possible Issues with robots or students not showing up.

1. Student device or Robot isn’t anywhere on the list.

a. The device or robot needs to be connected to the internet and updated. Try updating and rebooting.
b. Try switching the device to a different network to see if it’s network related.

  1. Student device or Robot has an active session ID

    1. That device is currently still in a session with nucleus. Restart the device. If this doesn’t fix it, it should get kicked out after a maximum of ~15 minutes(This can rarely happen with the robot).

    2. Once you see 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 for the sessionID it’s ready to connect.

  2. Student device has a different organizationID than the facilitator device

    1. Use the hidden menu on the student device, and unpair the tablet

    2. Use add new student on the facilitator tablet, and go through the registration/repairing process again.

  3. I’ve done all the above, but the robot still isn’t showing up!!!

    1. Check how the robot is currently setup in RK Central, make sure the facilitator is set to itinerant if it’s supposed be. Compare with other working orgs if you’re not sure how to set it up.
