Announcement

We are excited to announce the Pilot of our new RoboKind platform. The release will happen on January 13, 2025, and invited teachers will have early access to explore and provide feedback.

This software is in an Early Access testing phase, and certain features may be incomplete or may not function as expected. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us refine the final version, though updates and support may be limited during this period. Getting Started Guide for Pilot

How to Get Started

Welcome to the Pilot! Lessons can be taught one-on-one, in a small group, or to a whole class.

Before You Begin: Set Up Your Account and Roster

  1. Complete the onboarding by following the sign-up instructions after opening the RoboKind App.

  2. Access the platform via:

Lesson Set-Up

Web Browser: For a lesson, the teacher will need a device and each student will need a device. As a part of the pilot, it is recommended to use desktops/laptops/Chromebooks, but if it is not available access the app using a web browser on the tablet.

Teacher Log-In

Log-In: Log-in as a Teacher in one Web Browser.

  • Tap “Ready to Go”

  • Tap “Teacher”

  • Log-in with Email and Password

Join Code Process

Obtain the Join Code: The join code is listed on the teacher side.

  • Look at the top of the Lesson Selection Page for the Join Code.

Student Log-In

Log-In: Log-in as a Student in a new Web Browser.

Student Login:

  • Tap “Ready to Go”

  • Tap “Student”

  • Enter the Join Code

  • Choose Name from a List (Select one of the students- do not select demo)

  • Select one of the students- do not select demo. In future versions, the demo is used to connect to the projector or interactive whiteboard. More information to come later.

  • The student will see their name displayed

  • On the Teacher Side, students will have a green dot and be listed under connected when they have completed the steps previously listed.

Lesson Selection

  1. Select Lesson Dropdown: Select a Lesson from the Dropdown.

    1. Tap the dropdown arrow next to the lesson to select a lesson

    2. There are 3 Lessons to Explore (R, U, Sh)

Starting the Lesson

Connect Students:

  • On the Teacher Side, students will have a green dot and students will be listed under connected when they are ready to go.

Start Lesson:

  • For the Internal Release ensure one student is connected then tap “Start Lesson”

  • Tap “launch” when ready

During a Lesson

From the Teacher View, you have various resources available to you throughout a lesson.

Teacher’s Directions and Preview of Student View: Lesson steps and directions will appear in the Teacher View. In addition, as the teacher, you can preview the Student View for each step.

Lesson Navigation Tools:

  • Thumbnails: (View what is coming next) In later versions hold the thumb to time hop in the lesson- does not work during the assessment)

  • Back and New Arrow Buttons: Move student’s view during the lesson.

  • Thumbnail Button: In future versions this will hide the thumbnails on the side to display a larger screen if preferred.

  • Join Code: The Join Code is conveniently displayed throughout the lesson, in case students need to reconnect or join late.

  • End Lesson: End the lesson when needed

Robot Button:

  • Our Virtual Avatar is not included yet because it is still being revised. We have made multiple revisions, but we have another one.

  • In later versions, tap the robot button to prompt updated Virtual Avatar Teaching Assistant.

  • In the lesson plan pdf, look for the robot head icon. When you see this icon, press the robot button to have the Virtual Avatar speak to the students.

Dance Break:

  • In later versions, tap the dance break to prompt updated Virtual Avatar to provide students with a brain break when needed.

Please Note: At the Supplemental Phonics for Teacher, we are only including one Virtual Avatar (Jemi), we will not provide a choice at this stage.

Lesson Tips Button:

  • Tap the Lesson Tips Button

  • This pop-up allows the teacher to tap to hear the pronunciation of the sound.

  • Tips about the pronunciation of the target sound are provided.

  • There is a scrollbar to expand and view additional information.

Class List Button:

  • Tap the Class List Button

  • You will see a pop-up of your class list

  • When student tap done on a mini-game during a lesson then it will show a checkmark next to their name.

  • In later versions, we will show if the students answered the questions correctly or incorrectly when students complete the assessment.

From the Student View, students have various resources available to them throughout a lesson.

Done and Clear Buttons:

  • If students make a mistake during a mini-game they can tap clear.

  • When students are done with the mini-game they tap “Done.”

  • The “Done” button changes from blue to orange when tapped.

  • After the student aps done, the teacher can see a checkmark next to the student name under Class List in Teacher View.

New Mini-Game:

  • As a part of this release, we brought forth the new trace the letter road with the car.

Updated Vowel Valley and Sound Wall:

  • We now show all of the sound cards and highlight the key card on the wall.

Updated I-VAKT:

  • We added on Interactive Technology Game

  • When students' tap on the Interactive Technology Button then students practice using the spinner.

Lesson Assessment Questions:

  • We changed it so it is no longer student led (moving on to the next question after the student taps it). Rather, the assessment is teacher led. Students tap the answer to the question. The screen looks gray after they answer.

  • In Teacher View, teachers can check class list for completed and incomplete. In the future, teachers can view if students answered questions correctly or incorrectly.

New Letter Trophies:

  • At the end of the lesson, students earn a trophy for the lesson.

  • In the future (no timeline yet), we are looking to create a trophy reward room for students.

At the End of Lesson

End of Lesson Teacher Survey:

  • We have updated the questions at the end of a lesson survey.

  • In future versions, the data will be stored. It is not in this build.

Temporary Tips

  • Use browser zoom (Ctrl + mouse scroll) to adjust the app size.

    • Avoid using the full-screen button in the bottom-right corner.

  • Do not use this login on the production central.robokind.com website. Use this login only on central.beta.robokind.com.

Known Nonfunctional Items

RoboKind App

  • No onboarding process yet.

  • Only run lessons in a desktop/laptop web browser- not ready to support mobile/tablets yet.

  • 1 Virtual Avatar Teaching Assistant (At the Supplemental Phonics for Teacher Level, we include only one Virtual Avatar)

  • Teacher surveys do not save responses yet.

  • Log Out button is disabled. (Workaround is to refresh the browser page)

  • Various Features are not included in this version, but will be added later.

RoboKind Central Beta

  • You can view all menus, but editing is not functional.

  • The minutes on the Student Page RoboKind Central are not functional.
